Version 3.0
SVGMapMaker 3.0 features a number of significant new features, enhancements and improvements. Read below for details on these new features and explore SVGMapMaker capabilities!
Map animations
SVGMapMaker 3.0 includes the possibility to animate map content! Map animations
can be very useful to illustrate data/spatial changes over time and are fully
integrated as part of the SVG specification. Choose from opacity, color, scale, rotation, motion, progressive drawing
and morphing to make your MapInfo data go live!
Interactive zoom tools
SIMPLE MAP NAVIGATION! When your svg maps are exported with controls, SVGMapMaker 3.0 includes effective and easy to use
map navigation tools (zoom by rectangle, +, -, map level, etc.)
| SVG tiling and zoom layering
You want to turn-on a rather complex layer at a certain zoom-level in your map?
SVGMapMaker has a new tiling concept that is used to reduce the file size / loading time of complex map
layers in a zoom layering scenario. Layer tiling divides your output layer into smaller chunks, thus
making it possible to display with some level of efficiency. SVG being XML, tiles are inserted / removed from your map document as needed!
Multiple raster rendering and transparency
You can now choose between vector or raster rendering mode for your map layers!
This method is useful to lower the file output size when working with map layers that have a high vector density.
It also allows having multiple raster images or grid outputs within the same SVG map document.
Saving and loading map settings
You can now save all of your export settings to an XML file and re-load them as needed for a subsequent MapInfo session.
MapInfo 7.5 Brush styles and high quality custom symbols
All of the new brush patterns implemented in MapInfo 7.5 are supported in SVGMapMaker 3.0!
In addition, all MapInfo pattern definitions have been revised and optimized to ensure a faithful vector representation of the original MapInfo raster based brush styles.
SVGMapMaker 3.0 includes full support for MapInfo 7.5 higher resolution custom symbols.
You can even create your own custom symbols in SVG!
Support for WMS and Seamless tables
SVGMapMaker 3.0 supports MapInfo seamless and WMS (Web Map Service) tables, available since MapInfo 7.5.
| Export for Adobe Illustrator |
This new option can be used to optimize the SVG map output so that it can be imported into Adobe Illustrator 10
or later. When imported within Adobe Illustrator, SVG maps retain their layer
structure and object styles!
Fast mode, processing messages and layer names
The fast mode option can be used when working with native MapInfo tables to export maps up to 5 times faster!
A new message window with a standard progress bar indicating the process can be displayed or not.
Also, layers names in the resulting SVG outputs can be changed.
SVGMapMaker Software Developer Kit (SDK)
You want to integrate SVG outputs into your own MapInfo applications or create a batch process with your data? The SVGMapMaker Software Development Kit
is designed to let you leverage SVG within the MapInfo environment. The SDK is installed as part of the SVGMapMaker program files under the folder \SDK. With program samples and all the details about the SVGMapMaker parameters and functions, you will be able to develop
applications quickly!

Other enhancements
- Enhanced support for symbol and text styles (halo, dropshadow, etc.)
- Scaling symbol and line width when zooming
- Improved support for theme legends
- New context-sensitive help system
Version 2.0
MapInfo Pie charts, bar charts and graduated symbols thematic maps are now supported.
SVGMapMaker can create visually appealling thematics that take advantage of SVG advanced graphics rendering.
Filter effects such as drop shadows and fill-opacity settings can greatly improve the visibility of your layers and
provide rich theme outputs.
SVGMapMaker 2.0 fully supports the exporting of MapInfo cartographic legends.
This includes current map layer styles and also theme styles.
An integrated SVG legendwill help your users get a clear picture of what your SVG maps means!
This new option allows to apply a raster texture to the fill of region objects.
Choose from a library of over 70 raster texture images to create outstanding output.
SVGMapMaker 2 includes a new optional interface in 100% SVG to provide advanced interaction with the following embedded controls:
- Clickable overview map
- Zoom in and zoom out tools
- Panning arrows
- Dynamic scalebar
- Layer Control
- Map Legend
- Map Title
- Notes
When choosing the SVG interface, the info tool window is 100% SVG with
advanced text rendering and zooming capabilities. Also, the color of the interface (Dark and pale tones) and fonts
can be specified to create a customized look and feel.
All dialogs in SVGMapMaker have been enhanced
to make it even simpler to export MapInfo documents.
The interactivity options are now easily specified by picking an item from a column list box.
A new dialog is also available to set the map output size in pixels.
Complex MapInfo line styles such as highway and railroad styles are now generated as composed line styles to create complete cartographic outputs.
This new option to label lines with an svg text on a path
can be used to create text that follows the curves of the lines and improve text
labelling.
Text boxes (background) is now supported in map, layout and cartographic windows, plus the option
of using rounded text boxes. Also, SVGMapMaker 2.0 supports underlined, halo and expanded text styles.
